Brooklyn Skin & Dermatology Studio

Skin care that listens before it acts.

Halia is a small dermatology studio on Atlantic Avenue. We pair board certified skin care with botanical formulas, and we never push treatments you do not need. Your first visit starts with a conversation, not a sales pitch.

Our studio

We started Halia because skin care had stopped feeling like care.

Halia opened in 2012 above a coffee shop on Atlantic Avenue, with one treatment chair, a single esthetician, and a stubborn belief that good skin does not need a twenty step routine. Twelve years later we have grown into a team of three dermatology nurse practitioners, two estheticians, and one in house formulator, and that belief has not changed.

Every visit starts with forty five minutes of conversation. We ask about your sleep, your stress, the medications you are on, the SPF you stopped using last August. We look at your skin under daylight, not a ring light. Then we build a plan that usually has fewer products than the one you walked in with.

Our compounded formulas are made in small batches in our Brooklyn lab, with ingredients we can trace back to the farm or the lab they came from. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is generic.

Fewer products. Better skin.

The average Halia client leaves their first visit with three fewer products than they came in with.

Why Halia

Skin care that takes the long way around, because it works better.

We are a studio, not a chain. That means we have the time to do things that do not scale, like calling you back when a prescription is not working, or compounding a different strength because the first one was too strong. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Board certified care

Every clinical treatment is performed by a licensed nurse practitioner or esthetician, with a dermatologist on call for anything outside our scope.

Botanical first, clinical second

We start with plant derived actives that have real data behind them. We reach for prescriptions when botanicals are not enough, never the other way around.

No upsells, ever

We pay our team hourly, not on commission. You will never be pressured to add a treatment or buy a product. The plan we hand you is the plan we would hand our sister.

Forty five minutes, minimum

Your first visit is forty five minutes of conversation before we touch your face. We do not book back to back appointments, and we do not rush.

  • Compounded tretinoin and azelaic acid in our Brooklyn lab
  • Patch test every active before we recommend it
  • Free routine adjustments between visits, by message
  • Refill reminders tied to your actual usage, not a calendar
  • Photography under daylight, not ring light
  • A clear written plan after every visit, sent to your inbox

What clients say

Reviews from people who actually come here.

We do not curate these. They come straight from our booking platform, two days after each visit, when clients have had time to see how their skin reacts.

“I came in with a drawer full of products I bought off Instagram and left with three things and a prescription. Six months later my melasma is the lightest it has been in a decade. I genuinely trust these people.”

It is in almost every moisturizer on the shelf, but for some skin types it makes dryness worse. We break down when HA helps, when it does not, and what to use instead.

SPF after 4pm: a longer answer to a short question

We get this one in the studio all the time. The honest answer is that it depends on your skin type, your commute, and which window in your apartment faces west.
